If Kevin Martin continues to play as well as he did on Day 1 they may have to reinforce the roof at the Vancouver Olympic Centre. Premier Miles Austin Jersey . Otherwise the crowd may just blow the top right off. Martin and his team of John Morris, Marc Kennedy and Ben Hebert were more than impressive in knocking off Germanys Andy Kapp 9-4 for their second win of the opening day. In the process they thrilled the jam-packed arena, which responded with cheer after cheer after cheer. "That was a good game," said Martin. "I felt good this morning and good tonight and I just love the crowd . . . its just awesome." After giving up two points in the first end, the Germans began to force the play trying to capitalize on some missed shots from the Canadian trio of Hebert, Kennedy and Morris. But time and time again, Martin made a big shot or two to stave of the German attack. "We were in trouble," admitted Martin. "In the first few ends they had us on the run and it was just good that we got that opening deuce." In the seventh end with the Canadians leading by one, Kapp looked to be in shape to steal a point and tie the score after making a fine hit and roll behind cover. But without pausing to think about it, Martin called and played a long angle-raise, molar-rattling takeout, driving his own stone from out near the edge of the sheet back some 25 feet to remove the shot rock and score three points. As the German stone exited the rings, the crowd exploded in a deafening roar that shook the building. Behind the sheet, the Canadian coaching staff rose from their seats to give the skip a rare standing ovation, a move that got the normally even-keeled skip to break out in a wide smile. "[Kevin] was just feeling it out there tonight," said Hebert. "That was the loudest Ive ever heard a crowd go. It brought the house down. Thats a special feeling. You dont get to feel that much, maybe hockey players do in the playoffs, but that was unbelievable. "When you make one like that and [hear] the roar of the crowd, thats why you play," said Martin. For Kapp, the loss was one of missed opportunities against a team that doesnt give up very many. "At the beginning we just missed some shots to put more pressure on them," he said. "[Kevin] really played well. That was a fantastic raise." The fans have become almost as big a story as the curlers. All three draws on Day 1 were sold out and the yells and screams - not always at the appropriate times - have given the event a wild atmosphere not found at traditional curling championships. And it appears the curlers are loving it as much as the fans even though at times they have to resort to hand signals to call sweeping as the Hurry Hards get drowned out. "Its not even like a curling crowd," Hebert said. "They cheer when people are in the hack, they dont care. Theyre having a good time, having beers, thats what its all about. Theyre Canadian fans and thats what they do for all their sports. It must be a little intimidating for the other teams." "Early in the round robin, you dont normally get as up as that," Martin said. "When the crowd is so loud, its just so much fun." In other action, French skip Thomas Dufour made an angle takeout with his last rock to score two points and win 6-5 over China while Norway needed an extra end to beat the U.S. 6-5. Cowboys coach Wade Phillips said Thursday that Jones will play Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, and owner Jerry Jones said the team didnt plan any discipline after the player got into a scuffle with his bodyguard Tuesday night in the bathroom of an upscale Dallas hotel. Police were called, but there were no arrests or charges filed. "I am very disappointed in that were having to deal with this," Jerry Jones said. Phillips said he talked to the team about the incident Thursday morning. "What Im trying to do is get this team to focus on this game and the team that we are playing," Phillips said. "Were moving on in that direction." Adam Jones was suspended for 17 months by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell for numerous off-field problems. He was arrested six times and involved in 12 incidents requiring police intervention. Goodell said in a radio interview Thursday that the league was investigating the matter. He said he didnt speak with Adam Jones individually during a previously scheduled meeting with the entire Cowboys team Wednesday night. "Im disappointed that were even discussing this at this point in time," Goodell said on ESPN Radio. "But well have to wait for the facts." Nose tackle Tank Johnson, who broought his own checkered past to Dallas, said the incident was overblown and that it wouldnt distract the team. Premier B.J. Raji Jersey. "This is not that big of a deal," Johnson said. "Nobodys in jail, nobodys in trouble, nobodys hurt. Were all here ready to practise, ready to work." An empty locker separates the cubicles of Jones and Johnson, who missed the first eight games last season while serving an NFL suspension for a series of off-field problems. Johnson doesnt think Goodell will take any punitive action against the cornerback. Dallas police said officers responded to a disturbance late Tuesday night at an upscale downtown hotel. Officers said the incident was over by the time they arrived and that some hotel employees reported overhearing a scuffle in the mens restroom in the lobby. Jones and his bodyguard said everything was OK, and both were driven from the hotel by an acquaintance, police said. The bodyguard told police he didnt want to press charges. Drafted in the first round by Tennessee in 2005, Jones was among the Titans best defensive players for two years until Goodell suspended him before the 2007 season. The Titans distanced themselves from Jones and eventually traded him to Dallas for draft picks. The highest-profile incident involving Jones was a shooting at a Las Vegas strip club that left one club employee paralyzed. Jones denied involvement in the shooting. ' ' '
