Martin Brodeur, Joe Thornton and Rick Nash have all weighed in on the NHLPAs concerns regarding its players skating at Olympic training camps this summer without proper insurance. Bears Julius Peppers Authentic Jersey . They arent as worried as the union is. While participating in Mike Weirs charity golf tournament in Oakville, Ont. on Monday, San Jose Sharks centre Joe Thornton said he has decided to participate in on-ice activities at Hockey Canadas mens Olympic orientation camp in August, despite warnings from the NHL players association that its players should just attend for off-ice portions. "Ive skated for years and have never been hurt, so Ill be skating," said Thornton, who played for Canada at the 2006 Olympics. On Friday, the NHLPA sent a letter to players and copied Hockey Canada and other national hockey federations outlining its concerns that players could be at risk due to lack of insurance. The NHLPA doesnt believe the federations are providing enough insurance to cover players current contracts and potential future earning power in the event of an injury as NHL teams are not responsible for insuring their players at Olympic events. "While our NHLPA members look forward to the opportunity to represent their countries at the Olympics, it is unreasonable to request that players participate in on-ice summer orientation sessions without sufficient insurance against injuries," NHLPA Executive Director Paul Kelly said in a statement from the Association. "We have recommended that our members give strong consideration to the risks involved in participating should proper insurance coverage not be provided. The NHLPA continues to work towards reaching an amicable resolution to this issue with the NHL, the IIHF and their Federations." "I think we need the ice, I think we need to practice," said Columbus Blue Jackets forward Rick Nash, an Olympian in 2006. NHL players did skate in camps prior to the 2002 and 2006 Olympics. If the players dont skate together at these Olympic camps, most teams would only have one full day of practice in Vancouver before their first games of the Olympics. "We shouldnt have to worry about the business of things, but its a fact, and the PA is there to protect everyones interests," said New Jersey Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur, a three-time Olympian who admits hes confused as to why the NHLPA is more worried for this Olympics than they were in 2006. "Its just normal that they have concerns." Hockey Canada will hold its orientation camp in Calgary from Aug. 24-27, regardless of whether its players decide to skate. The itinerary includes on-ice sessions each day, including a red and white game before the public. "I dont have a reaction because this stuff will all get worked out. It does every year, and Im going to let the powers-that-be - Bob Nicholson, Steve Yzerman, and his people - handle it in a way that best helps the players and their situation," said Mike Babcock, head coach of Canadas mens Olympic hockey team, in an interview with Team 1040 Sports in Vancouver. "The good thing about it is that every country is in the exact same boat because were getting most of our players from the National Hockey League and, in our case, all our players from the NHL. So this will find a way to work itself out." The U.S. team will also hold a camp a week earlier in Chicago, while other countries are scheduled to get together throughout the summer. The camps offer each federation the chance to give players information about the Olympics and arent intended to be a tryout. They usually do not include very intense on-ice workouts. "Were moving forward, planning for an on-ice component for the camp," said Dave Fischer, USA Hockeys Director of Media and Public Relations to Yahoo.com. "Theres an ongoing dialogue for the issue at hand. Our guys that weve invited are all committed, and will all be there." Philadelphia Eagles Nnamdi Asomugha Jersey . -- Minnesota Vikings cornerback Cedric Griffin will have surgery to repair an injured left knee and may not be ready for the start of next season. Arizona Cardinals Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie Jers . The Tigers carried a four-game winning streak into their most recent series with the Cleveland Indians, but were swept in the three-game set. That includes a setback in both games of a doubleheader on Wednesday. Ravens Anquan Boldin Authentic Jersey . Nesbitt, who picked up her fourth victory after taking gold in the 1,000-, 1,500- and 3,000-metre races, crossed the finish line in 37.862 seconds in her second race, a personal best for the London, Ont. Jerome Harrison Authentic Jersey Browns . Like anybody else at work, sometimes you have good days, other times you have bad days. Aaron Rodgers, quarterback of the Green Bay Packers, had a very good day. Next time you watch Rodgers, notice his pure skill as a passer. Browns Winslow Jersey . LOUIS (AP) - Rather than retire the No. Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Colby Armstrong scored the game-winner in the third round of the shootout to push Toronto over Florida, 4-3, at Air Canada Centre. Armstrong used a head fake to get Scott Clemmensen out of position and slipped the puck past the left post. Afterwards, Jean-Sebastien Giguere used his left leg pad to stone Chris Higgins shot to preserve the win for the home team. Mikhail Grabovski and Nikolai Kulemin each had a goal and an assist for the Maple Leafs, who snapped a three-game losing streak. Kris Versteeg also lit the lamp for the victors while Giguere stopped 30-of-33 shots he faced. Stephen Weiss and Cory Stillman each potted a goal and a helper as the Panthers lost for the sixth time in seven games. David Booth also scored while Clemmensen turned away 23 shots in the loss. I didnt like the first period, said Panthers head coach Peter DeBoer. It looked like we were still on the All-Star break. Trailing by one for most of the third period, Florida capitalized on a Phil Kessel elbowing penalty called at the 15:45 mark. Just 34 seconds into the power play, Stillmans shot found the back of the net to knot the game at three. Neither teams were able to score in the overtime period despite the Panthers dominance with four shots and held the Leafs shotless. Its less stressful to score in overtime, said Toronto head coach Ron Wilson. You hate to have wait for a shootout. I much rather score in overtime. Bears Julius Peppers Jerseys. Versteeg put Toronto on the board first just 7:20 into the contest when he had a sneaky goal from behind the net. After his original shot was stopped by Clemmensens leg, Versteeg picked up his own rebound and was able to flip the puck off of netminders back, into the net. Florida knotted it at one with 1:54 left in the first after a big rebound at the other end created a 3-on-1 rush, which Weiss finished off with a low wrister after Higgins cross-pass. It took just 23 seconds, though, for the Leafs to snatch the lead back, 2-1, when Kulemin released a wrist shot from the right circle that sailed past Clemmensens glove. The game was tied, 2-2, nearly five minutes into the middle stanza as the Panthers found themselves on a power play with Jay Rosehills high-sticking call. With time running out in the advantage, Stillman centered the puck from the right side and Booth tapped it in from the top of the crease. Toronto responded quickly, yet again, 82 seconds after Floridas equalizer off an offensive zone draw to claim a 3-2 edge. Tomas Kaberle sent a shot from the right point, which was deflected by Grabovski and went between the Panthers goalies leg for a power-play goal. GAME NOTES:Toronto hosts Carolina on Thursday, while Florida travels to play Montreal on Wednesday...The Maple Leafs are 11-11-4 on home ice this season...Toronto was 1-for-4 on the power play while the Panthers were 2-for-4.
