PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu doesnt need knee surgery and says "the best case scenario" is that he will be back in three to six weeks as expected. He tore the medial collateral ligament in his left knee in Thursdays win over Tennessee on a blocked field goal during the second quarter. After the game, coach Mike Tomlin estimated Polamalu would be out three to six weeks, but said more tests were needed. For now, Polamalu will rest and hope the ligament heals quickly. As for Chicago, it sits in fourth place in the five-team AL Central and is just 3-8 on the road. To the surprise of many, John Danks has been the best pitcher on the White Sox roster this season. Despite the fact that the team is playing sub-.500 ball, Danks is 3-0 with a stellar 1.55 ERA. He worked eight innings against Seattle on Sunday and have up just two runs en route to victory. Danks is 2-1 lifetime against the Yankees with a 6.06 ERA, having allowed 20 hits and eight walks in 16 1/3 innings. Opposing Danks will be Javier Vazquez, who has gotten off to a horrendous start. Vazquez is 1-3 with a lofty ERA of 9.00, and the fact that he has 25 hits and 11 walks allowed through 20 innings is concerning. Against the Angels on Sunday, the righty was touched for five earned runs in 3 2/3 innings of work by the Angels in defeat. Vazquez has reason for confidence today, as he is a perfect 3-0 with a 1.88 ERA in three career starts against the White Sox.
