NEW YORK - British Prime Minister David Cameron met with Wall Street CEOs on Wednesday to press the case for doing business in the United Kingdom, and later planned to meet with media and political elites at a welcome dinner on his first official visit to New York City. The British consulate said the discussions focused on prospects for more trade and investment with the UK. He arrived in New York on Wednesday afternoon after a visit to Washington, where he met with US President Barack Obama and discussed the war in Afghanistan at the Pentagon with US officials, including Deputy Defense Secretary William Lynn. Cameron was greeted in New York by Mayor Michael Bloomberg at a street corner just after he arrived. The pair grabbed hot dogs from a street vendor but ignored questions from reporters while they ate. Cameron did flash a thumbs-up when asked about his lunch. He and Bloomberg planned to wrap up the day with another meal together - a more refined private dinner on the Upper East Side. The guest list included Whoopi Goldberg, Katie Couric, Diane von Furstenberg, Newt Gingrich, NBA commissioner David J. Stern and News Corp. CEO Rupert Murdoch. Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Sen. Evan Bayh also RSVPd to attend. Guests were to be served grilled lamb chops, string beans and roasted fingerling potatoes and were to watch a private performance by Rufus Wainright, a Bloomberg aide said. Cameron had hoped his first US visit as prime minister would focus on trade and troop involvement in Afghanistan, but it has been overshadowed by questions of whether oil giant BP swayed Scotlands decision to release the Lockerbie bomber. Libyan Abdel Baset al-Megrahi was convicted for the 1988 bombing of a Pan Am jet over Lockerbie, Scotland, that killed 270 people, most of them American and many from the New York area. Last year the Scottish government released the cancer-stricken al-Megrahi on compassionate grounds. The matter has received new attention because of accusations that BP helped influence the release of al-Megrahi as part of efforts to seek access to Libyan oil fields. BP has acknowledged that it urged the British government to sign a prisoner transfer agreement with Libya but says it never specified al-Megrahis case. The four US senators from New York and New Jersey met with Cameron on Tuesday to press for a new investigation. In a solo appearance Wednesday, Bloomberg said that while al-Megrahis release was a miscarriage of justice, he said he had no plans to press the case further with Cameron. Thats a federal issue and theres no reason why I would bring it up, he said. Detroit Red Wings Zetterberg Jersey . The Dow Jones industrial average rose 266 points. Lucky for him, the next man in line is as mouthy as they come. Englands Dan (The Outlaw) Hardy has already taken a few shots ahead of his bid for St-Pierres welterweight title at UFC 111 on March 27 in Newark, N.J. Hardy (23-6 with one no contest) started nipping at the Quebec-born mixed martial arts star back in November. The clean-cut St-Pierre doesnt offer much of a target outside the cage so the 27-year-old Hardy, undefeated in his four UFC fights, has had to settle for calling the Canadian "boring." Hardy has focused instead on how he believes he can score an upset win over St-Pierre. "I know that I can give GSP hell when the times come," he said in an excerpted quote from Wednesdays first episode of a three-part TV series to promote the bout. The "UFC Primetime" show on Spike TV peeks behind the scenes as the combatants train for the fight. "Its so sweet stepping out into the Octagon on the other side saying, I told you so, " Hardy said. "All these GSP fans that are betting the house on him, when they wake up Sunday morning . . . they arent going to be too impressed with themselves." GSP (19-2), a fan favourite whos dispatched most of the elite fighters in his 170-pound weight class, has largely been amused by Hardy. But he still plans to dispatch the brash Brit. "Trash talk is not my thing, there is a line I will never cross," a bulked-up St-Pierre said in Montreal after a session of pounding his trainers arm pads with heavy leg, elbow and knee blows. "If he wants to cross the line then hes going to cross it alone and Im going to answer back with my fists in the Octagon." Hardy beat the likes of American Marcus (The Irish Hand Grenade) Davis and Mike (Quick) Swick to earn a shot at St-Pierres belt. Shannon Sharpe Jersey. Along the way, he did his best to get under his rivals skin, calling Davis a "fake Irishman" among other things and giving Swick a "runner-up" trophy at the pre-fight news conference. To the 28-year-old St-Pierre, who packed on seven pounds of muscle in advance of the fight, Hardys words wont change anything thats going to play out in the cage. "No matter what he said and no matter what I say, Im going to go there and hit as hard as I can on his head, and hes going to do the same thing," he said. St-Pierre was looking forward to watching the TV show, so he can channel Hardys cocky remarks into motivation. "Im going to be able to watch it and see what he said about me -- Im sure theres going to be a lot of interesting stuff," he said. "It pumps me up." St-Pierre said Hardys European-style boxing, Muay Thai and improved ground-fighting skills make him the most dangerous opponent hes ever faced. "He hits very hard . . . hes someone who can end a fight with one shot," St-Pierre said. But the champion is counting on adding Hardy to his list of victims. He not only wants to take out Hardy, he wants to do it in style. "I fight for myself, for a legacy," said St-Pierre. St-Pierre, whos been mulling over whether to take a break from mixed martial arts to try out for the Canadian Olympic wrestling team, said he still has work left to cement his spot as one of the UFCs greatest. Still, he hasnt ruled out an eventual push to crack the Olympic wrestling squad. "It all depends on the outcomes of the next couple of fights," he said. "I now have the money, the fame -- of course it comes with it -- the security, but I need to stay hungry and I like challenges, I like when people doubt me." The UFC announced Wednesday the Prudential Center fight was a sellout. ' ' '
