Bronx, NY (Sports Network) - CC Sabathia struck out nine over seven strong innings to pick up his American League-leading 16th win, as the New York Yankees beat the Detroit Tigers, 6-2, in the second contest of a four-game series. Inge homered in the next inning, but Cano hit one over the wall in right to start the bottom half of the frame. Ramiro Pena, who started for Rodriguez, drove in Swisher with a sacrifice fly later in the inning to account for the final margin. "Austin came out with a little thunder right away, but they kept battling back," Inge said. "Im sure Justin didnt throw the best game hes thrown all year. He was battling to find his control." You want to play your best every year, you want to play every game like its your last one and you dont want to leave anything on the ice. To be put in that category is something special and something you remember. You just move forward and keep pushing every day. You know theres always something youre playing for in the back of your mind. "It is definitely a confidence boost. To be considered is definitely an honor. In that group therere a lot of great players, right from (Sidney) Crosby, (Jarome) Iginla, those kind of guys. Its a great compliment." Its also one well-deserved. "Corey Perry has been a top-level player at every level hes played at," Carlyle said. "... I think he earned (the Olympic camp invitation). For him, its recognition.
